Abstract:

The hospitality industry faces significant challenges in adapting to the evolving global marketplace, requiring strong leadership from general managers (GMs) to maintain competitiveness and ensure operational success. This study examines the critical role of leadership transformation and comprehensive training programs in preparing future hotel GMs. Through bibliometric analysis, the study explores trends and patterns in the literature related to GM leadership development, focusing on key competencies such as technical, social, and conceptual skills, as well as the integration of digital tools in GM training. The results indicate that effective GM training programs should encompass not only operational skills but also develop leadership, team management, and adaptability to technological advancements. Transformational leadership was found to be a key factor in enhancing GM effectiveness through fostering innovation and employee empowerment. Furthermore, the study highlights the importance of practical experience, mentorship, and ongoing professional development in preparing GMs to navigate the complexities of the hospitality sector. These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of GM leadership training and provide insights for industry stakeholders aiming to improve the effectiveness of leadership development programs in hotel management.
