Abstract:
This research examines the role of traditional game preservation in supporting tourism and sustainability, with a focus on Sundanese traditional games in Indonesia. With the rise of digital entertainment, traditional games are increasingly becoming obsolete, particularly among younger generations. This study examines how digital platforms, such as the E-Kaulinan app, can help preserve and promote these cultural practices by making them accessible to a broader audience. This study employs a qualitative approach, utilizing a research and development (R&D) design that combines observation and interviews to collect data. The key informants of this study included Dr. Zaelani, a traditional game preservationist, the Hong Community, and the West Java Cultural Values Conservation Center (BPNB). The focus is on identifying traditional games that are becoming rare or unknown and transforming them into digital form via the E-Kaulinan app. By employing the purposive sampling technique, this study aims to gather more focused and relevant data to address questions about how traditional Sundanese games can be preserved and promoted through digital technology, as well as the roles of various parties involved in this process. The findings suggest that integrating traditional games into the digital realm not only helps preserve them but also creates a unique form of special interest tourism. This digital approach offers potential for promoting cultural heritage, supports sustainable tourism development, and provides an innovative solution to cultural preservation in the digital age.
