Abstract:
Demak Beach is a coastal area facing serious threats due to climate change, such as coastal erosion, tidal flooding, and land subsidence. These phenomena threaten the sustainability of the environment and the socio-economic livelihoods of coastal communities. This study aims to analyze the role of environmental protection in addressing the impacts of climate change in the Demak coastal area, highlighting policy weaknesses, ecological impacts, and mitigation efforts. The method used is a legal-sociological approach with data collection techniques like literature review, interviews, and field observations. The research findings indicate that despite existing mangrove rehabilitation programs and coastal infrastructure strengthening initiatives, their implementation still faces challenges such as weak institutional coordination, low community participation, and inadequate enforcement of environmental laws. Environmental protection in Demak needs to be directed toward strengthening ecosystem-based policies, empowering local communities, and integrating the principle of ecological justice into every adaptation policy. These efforts are expected to enhance the resilience of coastal areas to climate change sustainably.
