Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to determine the objective conditions of social studies learning in elementary schools in an effort to improve students’ conflict resolution skills. In social studies learning, students are taught various social skills, including how to manage conflict well. The research method used is a case study description with data collection instruments through interviews involving 10 teachers. The results of the study indicate that social studies learning in elementary schools is still not fully effective in helping students develop their conflict resolution skills. Some of the obstacles found include the lack of teaching methods that emphasize social skills and limited materials and media that support character education, especially in the aspect of conflict resolution. This study recommends the development of a more participatory learning model that can accommodate conflict resolution learning, so that students can learn to resolve conflicts in a peaceful and effective manner. This is expected to create a comfortable learning environment and improve the quality of social interaction between students in elementary schools.
