Abstract:
The world is currently facing three interconnected environmental crises: climate change, biodiversity loss, and natural resource degradation. These crises not only threaten ecosystems but also human rights, particularly those of vulnerable groups such as indigenous peoples and coastal communities. This paper analyzes the role of law as a strategic instrument in integrating environmental protection, respect human rights, and sustainable development. Using a qualitative approach, the study draws on the analysis of international documents, national regulations, and case studies from various countries to identify challenges and opportunities in implementing environmental law. The findings show that although global legal frameworks such as the Paris Agreement and the Convention on Biological Diversity provide a normative foundation, weak law enforcement, conflicts of interest, and policy fragmentation remain major obstacles. This paper recommends a holistic, rights-based approach, the recognition of the rights of nature, the strengthening of strategic litigation mechanisms, and cross-sectoral synergies as pathways toward a more just and ecological legal transformation. Thus, the law serves not only as a normative device but also as a tool for sustainability and social justice amid environmental crises.
