Abstract:

This study aimed to examine the relationship between self-control and consumptive behavior among K-pop band BTS’s fans, known as ‘ARMY’, in Malang City. A quantitative correlational method was employed to investigate the relationship between variables without manipulation. The Spearman’s rho test was used as the data were ordinal and not normally distributed. The sample consisted of 97 respondents, determined using the Lemeshow formula. The results indicated a significant negative relationship between self-control and consumptive behavior (r = -0.376; p = 0.000), suggesting that the higher the self-control, the lower the consumptive behavior. Although the correlation was significant, it was relatively low, indicating the presence of other influencing factors. These findings provide valuable insight for designing interventions to enhance self-control in order to reduce consumptive behavior.
