Abstract:
The phenomenon of smoking behavior among students is currently increasing. Various factors are thought to be behind this increasing phenomenon. Smoking is a conscious behavior, therefore this study will use the perspective of the Theory of Planned Behavior. Based on the approach of the Theory of Planned Behavior, a behavior is largely determined by the intensity of the behavior. The intensity itself is influenced by attitudes, subjective norms, and also perceptions of behavioral control. So the purpose of this study is to see the intensity of smoking behavior in female students in Malang City based on the variables of attitude, subjective norms, and perceptions of behavioral control. This study uses a quantitative method with respondents of undergraduate students in Malang City. The sample obtained was 120 female students taken using random sampling techniques. Data analysis used multiple regression analysis. The results of the study showed that attitudes and perceptions of behavioral control had an influence on smoking intensity. Subjective norms had no influence on smoking intensity. This means that the intention to smoke in female students, who are Gen Z, is not influenced by the norms or expectations of those around them.
Keywords: intention, attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control
