Abstract:

The preservation of batik is very important because in addition to being a national identity, batik has high economic and social values. However, the traditional batik industry in Indonesia faces serious challenges related to environmental and health impacts due to the use of synthetic chemicals in the coloring process. This condition creates an urge to find alternative batik production techniques that are more sustainable with the use of natural materials as a substitute for harmful chemicals. An innovation called ecoprint batik has emerged. This study aims to examine the use of ecoprint batik as a form of environmentally-based creative entrepreneurship that is both eco-friendly and capable of contributing to the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The case study was conducted on Madura Island, with a qualitative approach through interviews on ecoprint batik entrepreneurs, local community members, and representatives from the village government. The results showed that ecoprint batik has an economic and ecological impact on rural communities, contributing to SDGs 1, SDGs 3, SDGs 5, SDGs 6, SDGs 8, SDGs 10, SDGs 11, DGs 12, SDGs 13 and SDGs 15.
