Teacher Communication in Instilling Student Religious Values at Madrasah Tsanawiyah

Abstract:

Instilling religious values in students is a fundamental aspect of Islamic education. This study examines the role of teacher communication in instilling religious values in Madrasah Tsanawiyah, Al-Musyawarah Lembang, West Bandung. With a qualitative approach and case studies, data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and analysis of religious activity documentation. The results of the study show that effective teacher communication, if persuasive, educational, and interactive, contributes greatly to improving students’ understanding and internalization of religious values. The communication strategies used include group discussions, the use of interactive media, and example-based approaches. The main challenges in this process include limited time for religious learning, diversity of student understanding, and the influence of digital media. Thus, innovations are needed in communication strategies, such as the use of technology in religious learning and improving teachers’ communication skills. This study confirms that effective communication is the main key in shaping students’ religious character, and Islamic educational institutions need to strengthen teachers’ communication strategies to ensure that religious values are not only taught but also practiced in daily life.
