Da'wah Movement in an Environment-based Campus: Strategy and Implementation at Islamic State University of Raden Intan Lampung

Abstract:

Campus da’wah is ilallah da’wah that aims to encourage students to Islam using formal or informal facilities at the university. In Indonesia, campus da’wah is vital and almost every university has a campus da’wah institution with a different name. The increasing density of populations, vehicles, and the application of contemporary technology to exploit nature unintentionally has led to a decline in the quality of the campus environment. The other is green, clean, and beautiful in the campus environment of UIN Raden Intan Lampung. This research aims to analyze the da’wah movement in the campus environment, focusing on the strategy and implementation carried out at the State Islamic University (UIN) Raden Intan Lampung. Da’wah in the campus environment has an important role in shaping the character of students and strengthening Islamic values. The research method with a qualitative descriptive approach and data were collected through observation techniques, interviews, and documentation supported by primary and secondary data. The results conclude that the success of the da’wah movement on campus is greatly influenced by the organization’s ability to design strategies that are relate to the characteristics of students and the ability to collaborate with various parties. In sentimental da’wah strategies, partners are motivated to think, reflect, and learn from what they do. Rational strategies encourage da’wah partners to think, reflect, and take lessons from what they do. Finally, the sensory strategy uses their five senses to produce the truth. The study recommends to increase the capacity of human resources involved in da’wah, optimize the use of information technology, and develop a more inclusive and participatory da’wah program.
