Patterns of Parenting and Child Education in the Family from the Perspective of Mubadalah in the Village of Sukarame Bandar Lampung

Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to analyze the pattern of parenting and child education in the view of mubadalah in the Sukarame sub-district of Bandar Lampung, Indonesia. This field research uses a descriptive qualitative method, a type of research that studies the status of human groups, a condition, a class system of thought, an object, and an event that exists in the present. The data in this study are sourced from primary and secondary data through documents, and analyzed using critical descriptive analysis techniques. The results showed that the pattern of parenting and child education applied in households in Sukarame village, Bandar Lampung was carried out jointly or equally between husband and wife even though both did not divide roles, jobs, and responsibilities specifically, as everything was done spontaneously based on habits and needs. When it comes to parenting patterns, the majority of respondents applied democratic parenting because parents understand if children have their own skills without distinguishing their gender. Additionally, on child education patterns, the majority of parents applied the pattern of example and advice. The impact of mubadalah on parenting and child education patterns carried out by households in the village of Sukarame illustrates that the patterns applied do not contradict the concept of mubadalah–or equality–which does not view individuals based on their gender, but based on their potential and skills as individuals.
