The rise of corruption cases at the local government level certainly requires serious handling. This paper aims to explain the impact of corruption on regional development and the application of good governance as one of the solutions to reduce corrupt practices that occur at the local government level. The method used in writing this paper is a systematic literature study. This approach aims to synthesize and compare previous findings to form new knowledge about the impact of corruption on regional development and implement good governance, to reduce corrupt practices in local governments. The results of this study show that corrupt practices can negatively impact regional development because they cause an increase in poverty, hamper education services, reduce the quality of health services, exacerbate the rural-urban development gap, and disrupts gender equality as well as environmental sustainability
