Abstract:

Understanding the user is an important point in successful product design, but often, the process is difficult and takes a lot of time. This article aims to offer a way to shorten the process of the first stage in design thinking, namely empathizing, which normally takes up much of the time spent on a project. The process combines systems thinking into the design thinking process and applies it in a simulated project. The results of the simulations show that systems thinking not only speeds up time at the empathize stage but also covers up to the define stage, which is the second stage in design thinking. This article will be useful to students working on a design project for their school assignment or even to an industry with a tight time developing a product.
