Abstract:

Purifying biogas from CO2 (carbon dioxide) and H2S (hydrogen sulfide) is a necessary stage, undertaken to improve the quality of the biogas in the fuel. The presence of H2S in biogas can corrode the equipment, moreover H2S is also dangerous for human and animal health. CO2 contained in Biogas is also a corrosive impurity, and a purification process is necessary for biogas to be classed as environmentally friendly and safe for health. Biogas purification using water scrubbers sends pressurized water through a pressurized biogas purification column from the bottom in order to reduce CO2 and H2S gases. This method of purification resulted in a 32.8% reduction in the levels of H2S and a 21.2% reduction in CO2 levels, indicating that the H2S gas is more water soluble than CO2.
