The development of social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram has become a means to show and prove one’s existence to the public, so many teenagers use it to excessively post, causing narcissistic behavior. Such narcissistic behavior can be influenced by loneliness and a lack of self-control, as teenager use social media to entertain themselves and make friends. The study uses a quantitative method, using snowball sampling to study 150 adolescents (18-25 years old) who have been actively using Twitter and Instagram for at least one year. The measurements used are the UCLA Loneliness Scale Ver. 3, BSCS, and NPI-16 adaptation scales. Data were analyzed using the Linear Regression Test. The results showed the effect of loneliness on narcissism (p < 0.05) and the influence of self-control on narcissism (p < 0.05). This study proves the influence of loneliness and self-control on narcissism to be significant. Self-control has a greater influence on narcissism than loneliness.
