Abstract:

The interim Village Head Election is a mandate from Article 47 of Law Number 6 of 2014 concerning villages. In this case, when an interim Village Head Election is held, the dismissed village head’s remaining term of office is more than one year. Pekon Kampung Baru, Kota Agung Timur Subdistrict, Tanggamus Regency, held an interim election due to the death of the Village Head with a remaining term of 5 years and 8 months; in support of the Village Head inter-time substitution process so that it runs smoothly. As a Village Consultative Body, it plays an important role in the Inter-time alternation process. The purpose was to find out how the role of the Village Consultative Body plays an important role in the interim shift process using qualitative research methods, data collection techniques through observation, and interviews and documentation. Based on the findings, it was concluded that: (1) the Village Consultative Body’s role in the Interim Election of Village Heads in Kampung Baru Village was not fully maximized, due to the Village Consultative Body members’ partiality with the Village Head Candidates, resulting in miscommunication between members of the Village Consultative Body and others, as well as the village government. (2). The implementation of the interim election for the Village Head of Kampung Baru only involves elements of the government, namely 5 Hamlet Heads, 1 youth leader, namely the Karang Taruna leader, 1 religious leader, and 9 Village Consultative Bodies.
