Abstract:
In root canal treatment, removing persistent bacterial biofilm is challenging. Currently, with nanoparticles (NPs) that have antimicrobial activity, we can address this issue. These particles can eliminate the microbes through these actions, including destroying the bacterial wall, increasing cell membrane permeability, stimulating the production of ROS, and avoiding deoxyribonucleic acid replication. So, they could provide good results to have a better prognosis for endodontic treatments. This minireview provides a brief review of NPs ’ mechanisms of action and recent advancements in their applications in Endodontics through their antimicrobial activities. Through the regulated release of ions, NPs break down bacterial walls, increase the permeability of the cell membrane, promote the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), and stop the replication of deoxyribonucleic acid. As a result, they have the potential to transform endodontics, achieving better outcomes and ensuring a bright future.
